Just delete the post. Easy.

Please avoid responding to the above post. It is "stuck," due to an
"accidental" bad date. If it grows, new visitors using CDO will have trouble
finding their posts and the responses thereto.

Thank you.

As most people who use the CDO interface ALREADY cannot find posts or
replies, does this matter?

Thank you.

David, let me tell you how I came to be one of those subhuman individuals,
because I think all our stories are the same...
Once upon a time, I installed an Update that the nice people at MS had sent
to me automatically. I thought, "how nice of them to do this." Later on that
evening, I decided to go to bed, and so I told my computer, it's time for
bed, please shut down."

My computer said, "Certainly!" And it went about shutting itself down.
Suddenly, I heard my computer say, "Beep!" "What was that?" I said. The
green light on the CD-ROM drive had come to life. The red light for the HDD
was blinking. "Hello, what is wrong here? I believe I told you to shut
down..."

To make a long story short, I could not shut down, stand by, or hibernate.
So, I started with the Help/Support window, and eventually it led me to this
forum! Multiply that by 1,000 per day, and you can see why CDO posters are
frequent visitors to this site. And, are they prompted, EVEN ONCE, to join a
newsgroup? There you have it, David...

I think they deserve it. No mercy to CDO sub humans.

They get a choice between CDO and OE. Go through it again and you'll see each group has two links - one for stupid, crippled web access and one through the default newsreader.

They need to make the carrot bigger.

No, they need to put the OE link on the top, not the CDO.

They need to hide CDO. It has a place especially for people in the field. But MS wants everything on the web so it can charge monthly access fees. This is part of the consumer training.

So there are many reasons to hate it. People who use it are traitors and MS collaborators and well as rude.

Ok, I give up. Sorry to be so unknowing, but what does
CDO stand for?????

At least you know how to access these NGs using a newsreader.

But not knowingly rude, for gosh sake!
And definitely not " traitors and MS collaborators ." Tha takes willful
intent, which is OBVIOUSLY lacking, you must admit.

After the 50,000,000th rude person I've stopped caring if it rudeness or ignorance. Wasting my time answering Q that they will never see. Attaching fixes thart they can't see.

I just want them to go away.

It's how MS web servers send mail. It's built in to XP Pro but not very useful for an end user. If you press F3 while previewing (repeat previewing not viewing) a message you'll see the headers incl what email/newsreader made it. If it comes from a MS web server or an automated system on a MS server it will say CDO. Collabrative Data Objects.

From Kelly:

CDO stands for Collaboration Data Objects. This is a server side mechanism
that can allow web pages and other applications to send e-mail, newsgroups
posts and other types of messages that are supported via the CDO interface.

More information:

CDO for Windows 2000 is a set of interfaces exposed by Windows 2000 which
allows custom-written programs to send and read SMTP messages* and also to
post and read NNTP (newsgroup) messages. Microsoft has written a program
around these interfaces (specifically the NNTP part) and uses this as the
foundation for their web-based newsreader.
