Hi
Basically we were given a computer, which had loads of program and
files on so we decided to use a program called webroot window washer
which said to use before selling or donating a computer, because it can
clean it up and remove unwanted programs.
It did warn us that it would remove the operating sytem but we thought
we had the disk, well it turns out we dont have a disk to put windows
xp back on.
My computer guy has said we can use another copy of windows xp to
install and use our own activation code, firstly is this correct? and
also i can not actually get a copy of this disk any where, it looks
like i might have to buy it again. Can you download this from anywhere
if you already have an activatin code?
we did try to install my mums dell one, thinking it would ask for the
code but it never did, it just installed it, but obviousely dont want
to use this because of updates.
sorry for my bad computer laungage.

Thanks

If you have a Product Key (usually on a sticker on the computer if OEM),
you can use any matching XP install disk to install Windows. You would
use your Product Key. The XP install disk must match the version of
Windows that goes with that key; i.e., XP Home OEM, XP Home Retail, XP
Home Retail Upgrade, etc. The Dell install cd will not work.

There is no place you can download an XP installation disk. Either go
back to the person who gave you the computer - who really should have
given you all the cd's for the operating system and programs installed
on the computer - or take the machine to a local professional computer
repair shop. Otherwise you will need to purchase a new copy of Windows
XP.

in addition to what Malke said...
you can ask the manufacturer of the computer for the disk; or ask a friend..
it works as long as you have a valid coa

Just to add a bit, Window Washer does not remove programs or OS's. I use it
all the time and it does just as the name suggests, cleans out a lot of the
rubbish which gathers.
