Hi!

I have 2 DC's , 5 FSMO Roles (first dc -3 roles, second dc
2 roles-GlobalCatalog)

I need to update the firmware and bios (DELL Server) of
the first DC. So, my question is

How long time could be the second dc up and running on the
network without move the roles to it.

Obviously i need the network working fine along the time
the first dc is down probably 5 hours.

thanks for comment.

Depends on the roles on the second DC and what is going on in the domain.

Just move the FSMO roles to the first DC temporarily.

Also, if you have a single domain, simpler just to make all DC's global catalogs.

the first dc is down probably 5 hours.

It takes about ten minutes to update the firmware on a Dell Server, and I'm
being liberal with the time here...

Just amek sure you have a backup of everythignin case Windows gets annoyed
with the update and you have to reload. It happens sometimes.

ok
First dc (schema - Domain Naming Master-GlobalCatalog)
Second dc (PDC Emulator-RID-Infraestructure)

so, i am goin to move out the comission the second dc.
definitively i must to move the roles to the first dc?

Microsoft says to use only one GlobalCatalog per domain in
configurations like i am using at this moment! Or i'm
confused ? Why both dc's GC!!

Thanks !!
