Hi,

Major situation here I think. I have a work computer with an account that
was logging into a domain...I decided I wanted to connect this computer to
my hone network...so I changed the network ID to Workgroup. I now cannot
login to the machine at all (tells me the password/username are incorrect).
In the windows login...I see Local UserName (not sure if it was this before)
and From: (this now includes Workgroup and the what was the Computer
Name...but not the work domain. I am pretty confused here and totally
screwed if I can't get this fixed.

Help please!

Bring your computer back to work and ask the domain admin to add it back to
the domain.

Next time, don't change network settings - you didn't need to to do what you
wanted. You can always log in with cached credentials to the domain and use
resources on the workgroup.

Not relevant since we're talking about removing the computer from the
Windows domain....

the ability to use the domain account to log on the
comuter without being connected with the domain could be
prohibit by the domain-admins (it's an security risk).
so i would create an lokal account for working at home.

And how do I create a local account if I'm locked out?

I would just take it back to the admin at my office but I am working out of
town for the next couple weeks!

You don't need to create one - and no, you can't, if you're locked out. See
http://securityadmin.info/faq.asp#password

Even if you find the local admin credentials, you aren't going to be able to
access your old, domain profile if you log in that way, note....you'll need
to bring your laptop back to the office.
