Sounds like a dumb question but maybe I found my problem..
Does x64 mean an AMD System? I think I got that confused with the 64 bit
version of Vista..I tried to google it with no avail..

If there were device drivers for the 64 bit OS for the same hardware as the
32 bit OS, it would be more readily adopted.

I'm running vista x86 on a 64 bit system mainly because it all works just
fine
and as for divice drivers there are plenty out there that would work with
vista x64 but can't be installed because of driver signing

I feel driver signing has many good points

However shouldn't it be the users choice as to what hardware and drivers to
use regardless of performance?

I'm sure it isn't microsoft's largest concern wether or not ny system is
stable or not. I'm sure it has more to do with DRM (digital rights
management) and the enforcement of drivers that support it

Well exactly true most drivers have nothing at all to do with DRM
Except the graphics, driver most new high end grahpics cards are DRM
compliant and have drivers that enforce it

That problem is dissipating fast.

It is usually now just old stuff the vendors are not really supporting much
any more.

Really a good point. Users should always be prompted for installing
drivers, no mater whos they are. "Cancel Allow"

DRM sucks. Had one dork at a computer shop try to tell me HDMI was an
enhasement feature. Would not listen when I said DRM inside makes it weak.
I want DVI or nothing, if it has HDMI, OK, but not paying extra for it.
