does word store all old documents if so where?

Hi I created a document a while ago and i dont remember saving it and am
unable to find it. my question is does word store a copy of all documents and
if so where?

If you have ever saved the document and have not deleted it, then it is
still on your hard drive. Although you can search for it through Word, it's
easier to search through Windows Explorer. Use Start | Find/Search | For
Files or Folders. There is an option to search for files and folders
"containing text." In that box insert a string of text that you know the
document contains (for efficiency, choose something that is not likely to be
in any other document). Then click Search Now. You may want to limit the
search to My Documents (or wherever else the document is likely to be).
