Im getting a new computer with windows XP but i dint pay extra to include the
new Word version...

But at home i have the cd to install word 2000 and the other office 2000
products, will these work with XP ?

Steven: I put Office 2000 on my new XP machine and had no problems at all.
NOW I have upgraded just Word to Office 2003/XP and am thinking of
reinstalling the old version. There are many differences, and the 2003
version seems to have been 'dumbed-down' to do a lot of things automatically,
almost insulting the intelligence of a literate user. -Jim

As a literate user, you must already know about clicking on Tools |
AutoCorrect Options | AutoFormat As You Type, and turning off everything
under "Apply as you type" and "Automatically as you type".

Hey, did I say that _I_ was a literate user? May have hinted, but the
problem is that there's so much going on in Word that I actually have not
checked these options. Thanks for the reminder, I'll see what happens with
all those turned off. -Jim

Also take a look at Suzanne Barnhill's site for a nice page on getting the
File New dialog back without jumping through the task pain.
