I want to know if it backs up my Visual Studio files, my Adobe files and etc.
Can anyone shed some light?

Also, does it back-up my temporary internet files?

Yes, it can. The backup can allow you to choose what is backed up. You can also do a complete system backup.

I found it backed up much more than I wanted - it backed up all the files
from applications in Program Files (but not the exe's)... 28.8GB. The total I
calculated for my documents, pictures and videos was around 5GB.

Well the backup wizard ask what type of content you would like, whether its,
Movies, Documents, Music. Vista Home Premium has, Scheduled backup, ability
to backup to a network and ad hock backup and recovery of user files and
folders.

I am using Home Premium - but I am just concerened about my Visual Studio
files and saved games for certain games.
