Yes, it does. Windows XP comes with Internet Explorer for Internet
surfing/Web Browsing and Outlook Express for email and newsgroups.

No, Windows XP has no built in web and mail software server.

XP....Where's the Workgroup Mail Server?

If you are using XP Pro, it will have Internet Information Server on it for
web site hosting.

Those are client applications, not server applications.

With XP Pro, you can use the IIS web server and SMTP mail server that is
not installed by default, but can be added in. SMTP will enable you to
send mail; don't think POP or IMAP is available to receive mail.

Easier to use Linux for this sort of services. XP Pro and Home is
really intended for client machines.

Hi,

For small Windows mail server installations Mercury mail
(www.pmail.com) is quite good. There's also MailEnable
(http://www.mailenable.com), although I've never tried that.
