Does having to separate Window XP versions take up all the memory

I used a rent to own place to get this computer and the previous user
made her own Windows XP version (not just user name) and of course
her password is unknown to the rent to own place as well as to me.
I've done all I can to make my hard drive less full but I can't fare
well and got to thinking maybe that other version is taking up the
memory... if so is there a way I can delete it from the computer?

Go to run, type:cmd In cmd type:DiskPart In DiskPart type:list disk
type:list volume If another xp installation is on another partition
(volume),
type:DELETE /? Then youd type maybe,DELETE F: F: being the volume the
unwanted xp installation is on...

Why didn't the "Rent to own" company delete the old Windows and
install a fresh copy of Windows on the computer?

By the way, "Memory" is normally used with regard to RAM memory. What
you seem to be concerned about is hard drive space or "Storage".

Is this a completely separate installation of Windows, where you get a
Startup menu to select the operating system that you want to load, or
is it a separate user profile, where you are asked part way through
the startup process to choose the user account you wish to log into?

Hint: Use Start - Log Off - Switch User. If the choices you are
offerred includes the previous owner then what you have is a separate
user profile. If not then it appears that there is in fact a
separate installation of Windows.

Post the results back here and we will proceed to the next step.

Good luck

Ron - I don't know why they didn't... but now that it's purchased fully (I
waited till the computer was all mine...) I want it off...
And you're right... storage....
The Windows is not a separate user ... when the computer loads it asks which
Windows Operating System I want. Both are Windows XP.
There is no other user to "switch" to.
Hope that helps
