does excel have autotext function

Im trying to find a way for excel to permanently remember words through out
the whole workbook with out having to do it over and over on each page, like
the autotext function in Word.
 
Tools | Options | Edit (tab)
Checkmark: "Enable AutoComplete for cell values"

No.

Autocomplete works in same column but not in non-contiguous ranges or across
sheets.

Please try using the Auto Correct feature.(Tools,Auto Correct, Replace :type
the abbreviation you want, With : Write the full name)
