Hello,
Does CHKDSK do the same exact things that ScanDisk
did in earlier versions of Windows? Also, after running
CHKDSK, I am not able to examine the report window
because it doesn't stay up very long so how can I
actaully have time to read the report after CHKDSK is
finished? ScanDisk allowed me to review the report, but
CHKDSK doesn't give me time. I want to be able to see
whether or not I have bad sectors and whether or not any
part of the physical surface of my hard disk is messed up.

Help Please,
Zack

You should run chkdsk from a Command Prompt,
Start>All Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt
Type in: help chkdsk to see all the different options for running it.

You can also run ScanDisk by right clicking on your disk drive in
Windows Explorer, select Properties, then go to the Tools tab and click
the [Check Now] button. When its done you should get a report, I can't
remember for sure since its been a while I've had any disk errors.
