This is more of a survey question than a suggestion or tech. question.

Do any of you like the Vista Gadgets? And have you had any problems with them?

Me personally, I like them. But have been having problems with the Microsoft
Weather Gadget not updating.

I don't use any of the "push" gadgets -- the ones that get info off the
internet,like weather, newfeeds etc.

I use four gadgets: Clock, calendar, the sticky-notes thing and a fourth one
that i downloaded that shows how much memory and CPU (both cores) are being
used. I have them all detached from the sidebar.

Love them! I use weather for differnet cities of intrest, clock for different
timezones to know when colleagues overseas are at work, and of course the
priceless 3rd party decisionmaker system Magic Eightball ;)

Yes I like them and I am using the following :
- Weather (it does not update automatically though - which is a pitty)
- Currency
- App Launch

I am missing the following :
- Unit converter
- Translation (words and scentences)
I guess they will become available one day ?

Hello again,

I forgot to mention one interesting gadget in my previous reply :
- Calendar
But what a pitty that it does not show ISO week numbers - without week
numbers, that calendar is useless to me.

I like the BBC radio gadget and the one that shows CPUs/Memory
And have you had any problems with them?

Nope.

Using Vista HP

I use them on the desktop system (1600x1200) but not the laptop. I currently
have the clock, a CPU meter, and a disk space monitor. Haven't looked lately
to see what's available.

I did find that, if you use the slideshow gadget and point it at a network
share full of photos, it uses about 40% of your CPU for the sidebar.
Eliminating that was a great help, and reduced my network traffic
considerably.

My weather gadget updates itself... Quite unsure of the interval though...
seems to happen every hour or so.... I'm completely sure it changes though.
We have quite cold mornings here now but warmer days and it changes..
sunny/cloudy changes too...

I notice that also for DreamScene. (The thing that allows Ultimate users to
see moving video for their desktop backgrounds).

Do any of you like the Vista Gadgets?

Beeing a sysadmin, I like the "Remote desktop" gadget because of the
"Console" check box.

ThePro

I use a system uptime gadget, default vista gadget, duo core + ram gadget,
notes gadget and application lancher gadget.

The very first thing I did, the very first time I logged into Vista,
was to turn the Side Bar off. I can't even imagine anyone finding it
useful. But that's just me.

I use these and like them a lot:

Calendar (MS)
Clock (MS)
Currency (MS)
Full Moon (John Stephen) for high tide
Multi Meter(D) (SFkilla)
UK Radio Player (Robert Nicholls)
Weather (MS)

I would like a really good tide clock, but Full Moon is a reasonable
surrogate.

I did the same thing. Also turned the Aero interface off, and turned on
the "Windows Classic" interface. Aero was just a bit too "flashy" for my
tastes.

To see the weather, I use the "1-Click Weather" extension in Firefox.

I like Vista's new interface and Gadgets If I wanted the classic views
I'd of stayed with XP.

I also have the problem that WeatherBug does not update.
