Some **** messed around with my registty stuff, I have fixed some of my stuff
but I dont know how to enable system restore.

also if someone had a guide to enable/disabling programs (particulary
mcafee) that would nice as well.

Uncheck the 'Turn off..." check box via
Right-click "My Computer" > Properties > System Restore (tab)

You can 'disable' programs by removing their startup entries
eg via Start > Run > msconfig > Startup / Services

also, all my programs are enabled, the problem is mcafee runs for 10 seconds
then closes....

You need to be using an 'Administrator' level account to have the 'System
Restore' tab.
[You can upgrade it via another Administrator level account
Control Panel > User Accounts]

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer
may give you some clues as to why McCafee is closing, if you're not getting
any error messages.

Uhh in case you were wondering, you are wrong, Im sure the tab is not there
cuz system restore has been disabled in the regis... I just need a pro at
working fixing registry stuff, *sigh*.

okey dokey... I'm off out now anyway.

It's certainly worth mentioning that "nathan"

sorry if it seems like I bite your head off, Im just tired (its late and this
crap is extremly annoying)

good news is that I fixed it, turns out that I had to go into group policy
to enable system restore.

To keep track of things, it helps immensely if you include all of previous
message(s) in your replies to the newsgroup. Thank you.

Sounds like you've been hijacked there, Nathan.

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.
