My documents and settings folder is very large on investigation this is
mostly in the all users application data. As I only have one user is this
normal as the installed programs are not as large as this folder.

The Shared Documents Folder is contained within All Users - check that to
see what's in there.

Which of the subfolders under All Users\Application Data have the most
information?

We need to narrow down the focus in order to help sort out what types
of files these are.

Good luck

They all vary in size are these the acutual applications folders and are they
necessary or could they be moved or deleted.

They could be anything. Most applications tend to install themselves
into subfolders off of the \Program Files folder but that is not
absolutely essential and can be changed.

Also many applications allow for some user specific configuration
settings to be entered and may therefore put the default settings into
the "All Users" folder to be used whenever there are no specific
settings for the current logged-in user.

It is impossible to make general statements about these folders. It
is necessary to know the names of the individual folders, their
contents, and the name of the application program that they are
associated with. Then, with some knowledge of the actual application
program itself, it may be possible to draw some conclusions about
whether or not these files can be moved or deleted.

What is your big concern? Hard drive space is cheaper than dirt these
days, and the location of these items in the "All Users" folder should
have no impact on the performance of your computer.

Good luck
