This should be a cross-platform question, so all chime in if necessary....
Mitchell, not totally clear on what you are saying.
If you receive a doc, make changes using Track Changes, send it back, then
the other person can Review the Changes and Accept or Reject each change to
have it automatically incorporated into the doc. That sounds like what you
are looking for (until the last sentence).
Is someone Accepting the Changes and then sending the doc to a third person?
Anybody using Word has the Track Changes feature, I think. At least since
Word 98. But once the Changes have been accepted, they will not be marked.
You could compare the documents to see what was changed.
Word 2001 Help says:
"Compare two copies of a document
1. Open the edited copy of the document.
2. On the Tools menu, point to Track Changes, and then click Compare
Documents.
3. Open the original document.
4. If neither the edited version nor the original version of the document
has tracked changes, Microsoft Word displays the edited copy of the document
with revision marks indicating what changed from the original.
If either version of the document has tracked changes, Word displays a
message box. Click Yes to compare the documents."
Post back if that isn't enough, and see far below for info on posting to
Mac-specific groups, just FYI, this is not a Mac-specific question and
could/should be handled on any group, but the others are helpful resources
to know about.

Using Word for Mac (from Office X), is there any way to have two people work
independently on the same document, on tweo different computers, and either
view/review each other's editing changes through a network, or to hgave one
add the other person's work to their own? Using word in Mac Office X, I am
using the track changes feature with comments. After I make editing changes
the other person working with me wants to incoporate my changes in their copy
of the same doucment. when thye either cut/[paste or copy to do this, the
ediiting changes are carried over, but they don't have the track feature so
that the person who recives the doucment back will see what changes were made.
Any thoughts?

For Mac-specific problems that involve glitches with Word, or
software/hardware interactions or installation issues rather than
manipulating Word itself to produce a document, you are probably better off
posting in a Mac newsgroup:
microsoft.public.mac.office.word
microsoft.public.mac.office
microsoft.public.mac.office.excel
microsoft.public.mac.office.powerpoint
microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage
You can access these through the MS site, via Google Groups, or by setting
up a newsreader.
