I cannot save word documents unless I close them. "Save
As" and "Save" are disabled, if they are selected I get
an error message as follows:

"The macro cannot be found or has been disabled because
of your Macro security settings."

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Dave

I get similar behavior when I have a macro named FileSave and another named
FileSaveAs and macros have been disabled.

The permanent fix is to find the macros called FileSave and FileSaveAs and
delete them, and reset the file menu.

The quick workaround is to go to Tools > Macros, select "Word Commands" from
the Macros in list, and select FileSave or FileSaveAs from the command list.

What both Charles and Jezebel are trying to say is that the default Save and
Saveas commands have been intercepted by macros of the same names, which
take priority and that macro security is preventing them from running.
Investigate why these commands have been intercepted (if this is a company
machine it may have been deliberate - if yours you should know why). Set
macro security to medium and to trust all installed templates and add-ins to
avoid the warnings if the macros are required.
