Can you explain more specifically what you're trying to do? Are you
referring to a DOCPROPERTY field in the document, the Properties dialog, or
something else?

If you hit the Office button and go to Prepare, and then hit Properties....I
want to know if there is a way to widen the fields for the Author, Title, etc.

It always helps to specify version, especially when it is Word 2007, which
is very different from previous versions. I don't believe this particular
display is user-customizable through the UI. It's possible it can be
customized using RibbonX programming.

I don't know of any means to do so either. However - just in case you hadn't
noticed it - you can click the Document Properties info button that appears
at the upper left end of the Properties Bar & select Advanced Properties.
That opens the old Properties Sheet as used in prior versions where the
fields are more generous.

One of the first things I did was add a QAT button to directly access the
old "advanced" Properties dialog.
