Document overwite in 2000

I just spent hours on two different excel spread sheets but instead of "save
as" I hit the "save" so over writing my original. Is there any where the old
file will be saved. This under 2000 not xp.

This question should have been posted to one of the MSOffice/Excel
newsgroups, but I think you are out of luck as far as recovering the
original file.

Your original file is deleted. It may be recoverable with paid for programs. Word saves a copy of the file, deletes the original, then renames the copy back to the original. So it's been deleted and had it's directory entry overwritten. Undelete programs can sometimes help.
