Every so often my doc files are changed to some code. Don't think I've done
anything to make this happen. None of the options offered make the files
readable as word documents.

Is there a way for me to change this back so I don not entirely lose many,
many valuable files.

Thanks for any help I may receive!

Best to ask the experts in one of the many MS Office newsgroup.

To add a bit to what Pegasus wrote, when you ask in a better newsgroup,
add more information about your issue:

"Every so often"? Does that mean that your doc files become unreadable
and then go back to being OK? Explain in more detail what happens and
under what circumstances.

Do *all* of your *.doc files become unreadable? If not, is there
anything common to the files that do become unreadable?

What version of MS Word are you using?

Copy and paste a *short* excerpt of this "code" that your documents
appear as.

What "options offered" are you referring to? That is, what have you
tried to do?

There are probably more questions that the Word experts will have, but
providing the above will certainly help.

Ask in microsoft.public.word.docmanagement

If you use the web interface, go here:
