My dad has a XP Pro laptop with a domain name when I try
to delete it it deletes. Then I put in My workgroup name
and it asks me to restart. After restarting It won't let
me log on, it only lets me log on as Administrator. It
deletes all of the setting and favorites and files I
hurryed up and did a system restore but whats the problem?
Chris

When XP Pro joins a domain, it creates seperate profiles for anyone who logs on, including desktop, favorites, etc. Those settings you're missing are associated with a network domain account and are stored seperately under C:\Documents and settings\<user name>

There probably isn't a local profile for you to log in with other than administrator, so you should also create a local user account via the control panel with the same name you normally log in with. To keep those settings you need to log on as normal, copy that domain profile to the local profile via the advanced tab in system properties, and set the appropriate permissions.

You can log in as the local administrator, and copy the
existing profile from "c:\documents and settings" over
the top of your newly created account profile to retain
all your old files and settings. You won't be able to
copy to or from the profile you are logged in as, however.

Thanks, Jack
