Do I need MSN messenger installed on my computer in order to use Remote assistance? The instructions says that all I have to do is send and email and it will work. It doesnt say nothing about MSN messenger. But people are telling me that it won't work unless I have MSN messenger installed. And I don't have it on my computer any more, so I will have to find it and install it if I do. I have XP Home. Thanks for your time in advance.

You are not the clueless one here. The people who are telling you that you
"have to have MSN messenger installed to use remote assistance" are the
clueless ones.

You can, as you can see if you start up remote assistance, choose between
Messenger and sending an email. It can, in some ways, be considered easier
if you have messenger (you can be chatting and with a right click or two,
ask that person to help you out.) And if you want to install messenger, go
here:

This page is a decent explanation on Remote Assistance:

Just ignore all the parts specific to the school in question. *grin*

you don't need MSN Messenger. the Messenger it's talking about is Windows Messenger which comes with XP whether you like it or not. MSN is not required

you mean Net-Send? Is Net-Send the same as Windows Messenger?

No.

Net Send is a part of the Messenger service, which is not the same as
Windows or MSN Messenger...
