Do I even need the .net framework?

I was wondering if I even need the .Net framework that is available on the
Windowe update website.

I tried it on another machine and all it seems to do is slow the bootup
process and I have to use TweakUi in order to get the automatic login back
which still - slows the boot process.

Thanks

Nope. I never add new components unless I find that I need them. (This
doesn't apply to security updates, though!) I've also had problems with the
Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) support update, and occasionally driver
updates. I used to just blindly accept anything presented as an update from
the site. Now, unless I can rationalize why I would need it to enhance my
work or experience on XP, I leave it alone.
