what do i do wrong?

maybe somebody can help me please!

There's very little information here about your setup so I'll try to
rephrase your question and hopefully that's what you are looking for.

You current setup: W2K DNS server - what zone does it host?

Let's say it hosts a zone (domain) called, myzone.local.
Create a new record in it called linux.myzone.local with IP address of
192.168.0.3 and now you can point your clients to linux.myzone.local for
proxy server.
Clients should be able to resolve the proxy server name and work fine.

I know that the name of the machine is linux.local (and not
linux.myzone.local) but to get linux.local, you'll have to create a zone of
..local which will be a top-level domain.
