Hello everybody,

Is there any way to use a WinXP Pro system as a little DNS Server?

The only purposse would be that the other machines that are inside my
network and connecting to internet through this, could be accesed like a
subdomain.

If you are using Internet Connection Sharing or a typical Internet
access router, you are sharing one public IP address among all your
network computers. If your network addresses are 192.168.x.y, then you
are in this situation and Internet DNS won't do you any good.

You have to use what is known as "port mapping" to make TCP/UDP ports on
your network machines available on the Internet. This can be quite
dangerous if your machines aren't very tight on security updates and
protections. If you want to play games this way, your game web site
likely has advice for how to set this up.

If all you want to do is use internal names instead of IP addresses, the
hosts file is the easiest way to do this. Name all your local machines
in the hosts file and copy to each computer. Post back for more info if
this is what you are really trying to do. But outsiders won't be able to
use these names.

Thanks, but after coming and going, I got an old PC and made it work with
linux, acting like proxy, firewall and dns server, lol.
