DNS Issues?

I hope this is the right newsgroup to post to about this, but here is my
problem:

I have a small personal website that is hosted by L40.net. My site has been
up for about 4 months. A few days ago, I received an email from them saying,
"The IP on your server has recently changed. Your new IP is: [blah blah].
Please update all your url's for cpanel, whm, ftp, etc with this new IP. You
can login to your client area and click on the 'Resend Email' link next to
your domain to obtain a new Welcome email with the updated login details."

I don't have to use an IP to get into cpanel, ftp, etc. I can use my domain
name. So, for a day or two, I just ignored the email. Everything was fine.

Then I began thinking I may need to do something, so yesterday morning I
clicked on the "Resend Email" link and received an email with a new username
and password. Since then, I have been unable to get to my website from my
home computer. Everyone else can get to it and I can get to it from my work
computer, but not from home. I cannot get to my cpanel, nor login to my ftp
client.

So I submitted a trouble ticket to L40 and explained the problem. They're
response was this:
"It may be a DNS issues that you computer has not updated it's DNS when we
changed it's IP recently". (that's a direct quote, by the way)

I don't know what that means. I replied back to them but haven't received a
response. But I seldom get a reply whenever I have a problem.

Can someone please tell me what I need to do to access my site from my
computer? Why can i get to my site from my work computer but not my home
computer? Am I missing something?

If you need any more information, please let me know and I'll provide it.
Thank you in advance for your replies.

Doug,
When I try what you suggested I get the "Page cannot be displayed" error.

I'm pretty sure my webhost is blocking my IP for some reason. I did a
tracert on two sites - mine and a friend's who also has L40 as his webhost.
When I tracert biddly.com (mine) I get "request timed out" at hop 13 through
30. When I tracert my friend's site, hop 13 begins - secure06.L40dns.net
[IP].

I sent my first tracert to L40. They replied and insists it's my ISP but
that doesn't make sense to me. I wrote them back and copied the second
tracert I did on my friends site, but they lost it. They lose support
tickets often. I resending it as we speak.

Is there anything I can do on this end? Besides moving my site to another
host (which I plan to do very, very soon)?

Thanks for your help.

Sue

Hmmm - maybe https://<IPaddress>/cpanel. If you cannot connect by IP
address, then this is not a DNS issue. On the other hand, maybe they made a
typo in the IP address they sent you. If you also have a hosts file with
with the old IP address, that would prevent you from connecting by name as
well. If possible have someone who can access the site run a ping and
tracert for you.
