DNS issue when moving a web site

I just transfered my web site over to a new host 2 weeks ago, but my
machines cannot access it. Ping still shows old ip address, yet when I do a
remote trace route it gives the new ip address. So I know the rest of the
world is getting to the right DNS server.

Do you think it's my ISP not updating their DNS, or does WindowsXP somehow
cache ip addresses?

Any ideas on how to avoid this in the future? I have a big client who won't
be too happy about not being able to check their email for 2 weeks!!

My temp solution is working -- just added the entries to my hosts file.

your old host must update your dns info to reflect the dns info for your new
host. contact your old provider to follow up as to the status of your dns
update request.

I manage my domain name myself thru Network Solutions. What does my old host
have to do with anything?
