connecting using broadband, ISP freeserve, the trouble is
after about an hour I get the error page "this site
unavailable" all the time. To fix this problem I have to
disconnect from web and then remove the modem for the
usb, then plug it back in for another hour's or so
browsing. Freeserve have sent a new modem with no joy.
I would be grateful for any help

Can you still ping the site ? Sometimes there is a
bottleneck in the network and the affected router drops
packets.

1. Try setting up a continuous ping and check to see if
there are any dropped packets. If there are ,....

2. Try tracerouting to the site. Usually this will get you
a good list of routers in the path.

3. Setup a continous ping to each one of the routers in the
list above to locate the affecting router.

4. Setup a static HOST lookup. Go to
Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file and add an entry to
the site. Sometimes this will help if it is the remote
site's network that is having the problem.

I get the same problem when I connect directly to the modem. I don't if I'm
using a hardware router.
