Weird problem. One day the broadband ICS works fine on two XP machines.
email and explorer working fine. Now, the email will not connect and
Internet explorer returns a DNS error page. Clicking in Detect network
connections goes nowhere.

Pinging from the command prompt give a positive response on 127.0.0.1 as it
doe when I ping the gateway machine.

Pinging any www site numbers give nothing.

I am accessing the newsgroup through my dial up connection which seems to be
fine.

Whets it all about and what can I do about it and is it a common problem
because there seems to be little help out there.

Can you access the web from the ICS host? If so, its an ICS problem. Try
restarting the service. If you can, the problem is with your ISP.

No problem, the ICS host works fine on the internet the clients cannot
access the internet at all.

Meanwhile we can access each other through file and printer sharing.

Did you restart the ICS service?

Not sure what you mean by that. I did switch off all the computers, the adsl
modem and restarted.

No change.

The only way I have solved the problem is to change which computer is the
ICS host. This seems to have done the trick.

Interestingly when using the Network wizard I was getting a spool error.
