Ive tried every combination, and Im beginning to think I have the wrong adapter
card.

what jumpers and adapter card have others used to make this guy work?

I have two drives and am frustrated with both:

DNES-309170 E182115 S, SCSI/SE
DNES-309170 E182115 F, SCSI/LVD-SE

I've tried ID,motor enable
ID, terminate
motor enable terminate
id,motor enable, terminate on ribbon

etc etc etc

Help?!

I have DNES-309170's in two systems on Adaptec 2940UW controllers.
They are set with the following jumpers only:
JPalpha -> Term Power (G) on; all others off
JPnumeric -> Enable auto spin (5) on; SCSI Term (6)on;

If you are using an Adaptec controller, make sure you have the
Termination in the controller set right for your situation. None of
the Adaptec settings ever make sense to me - I always have to check
the manual.
