Can anybody please help me?
I've bought a new seagate HG (160GB) and i'm using it as a
primary slave drive. My primary master is anoher seagate
(40GB). In secondery IDE channel i have cd-rw and dvd
players. My Problem is that i can't get this now drive
work in DMA mode. Both drives should support UDMA5 as the
old one does, but in the new one i get only PIO. My BIOS
shows both drives in UDMA5 as it shold but XP but's slave
drive in PIO.

All tha cables (and it's right 80 wire cable) and jumpers
are as they should be, i have all XP updates SP1 etc., the
lates chipset drivers and BIOS updates. But still nothing
works. I have also entered this microsoft recomended keys
to registry (ResetErrorCountersOnSuccess) and changed the
MasterDeviceTimingModeAllowed value to ffffffff, but still
i can't get to drive work in DMA.

ps. one solution was to unistal the IDE controller etc.
but in my case that didn't do the trick either.

If your chipset falls within a given range of Intel
chipsets then there is a free application from Intel named
Intel Application Accelerator that runs in Windows and
allows you to manually set the mode. Also, if you have
one of the affected chipsets then some devices won't be
sensed properly by windows. Hope this helps.

Yes I know about that application, but i'm using AMD
(Athlon 1333MHz) processor with asus MB(A7A266) wich has
ALI's chipset so i think i'm not able to use it.
