dao350.dll will not register. This is used by an application that was based
on Access 97. I have tried manually, the tech. page indicates that it has
been tested for Vista but not shipped. If a "fix" is not found I will have to
dump Vista for XP. It is hard to imagine that this is unable to be done.
There must be thousands of application business and otherwise that relies
upon this. Please help!

Frankly, I doubt there are "thousands of applications" that rely on Access
97 to work properly. Your options are pretty much either to run it in a
Virtual PC under Windows XP, or go back to Windows XP, if the vendor isn't
going to release a Vista compatible version of their software.

As a programmer of many applications using DAO and VB6 for many years I can
tell you that there are tens of thousands of applications out there that use
DAO. I also have a program that will not install on a Vista machine by not
allowing for not just DAO but some other OCXs too from installing. I'm going
to have to refund this customer because of this.

There is no way I'm going to rewrite this in either Dot Net or change to ADO
as it would take more than a year to do that and would break other previous
users of my program.

MS has blown it here. We've been hammered by them for years to never write
code that breaks previous code and here they have done exactly that. I'm
telling my customers to stay clear of Vista. Until they fix this at least.

Appearently DAO360 will install under Vista and will still work with Access
97 dbs. Would require recompilation of all your apps referenced to DAO 360.
