Hi there,

I have a couple of distribution lists under my contacts in Outlook 2003.

If I go into the contacts list and delete an a contact, and then when I go
into a distribution list where that contact still exists and I hit the
update button, it does not delete that contact.

Shouldn't it be updating the distribution list when I hit update? Or do I
have to manually delete the contact from the dist list after I've deleted
the contact from the contacts area?

Thanks,

Gordon

I have never seen the Update Now button do anything it's supposed to. I
don't even know why they put it there.

Right on, Russ!

Gee, I remember way back using Calypso, and it did a great job of updating
automatically, if you changed an email address in the main list, it would do
it without any prompting in the dist lists.....

DL's in Outlook are just nasty. I don't know why. Most of us have abandoned
them since Outlook provides other ways to do most of what DL's can do.

Most people use Categories or multiple Contacts subfolders to replicate most
of the features of DL's. Look over those options here:

What other ways are there? I have the same problem with updating a
person's
e-mail address, then having to remove and re-add them to each distribution
list.

Thanks,

You may want to consider eMailMerge 4Outlook from www.addins4outlook.com.
This lets you do everything that you want to do with distribution lists
using categories instead.
