Hi,

I have one phone line and a fax printer that allows me to use distinguished
rings. I was wondering if XP fax can cope with the same ? it would be handy
having all messaging in one system.

Windows XP cannot support Distinctive Ring.
I think Distinguished Ring is something different, like when someone really
important is calling.

In the uk - they give you another number that rings differently so that fax
machines can pick up on it - the HP printer can do it but I wanted to use xp

I think you either missed or ignored Russ' sly, dry sense of humour.
