Several of our users are complaining about losing access to their home
directories temporarily. Most are mapped to H: for their home directories
and it will occasionally just dissapear. When this happens they cannot
connect to any share dvolumes on that server. It is like it just takes a
vacation or a minute then comes back. When it comes back the "H:" will show
up again and all is well untill it dissapears again.

Thanks
Byron

Is the H drive local or on a SAN? When the problem happens, does the server
respond to a ping? What is happening at the console during that time? Do the
event logs show anything unusual during the time the drive is inaccessible?

The "H" drive is located on a Dell PowerVault NAS. I can't say what is
happening at the console because I have no way of nowing when it
"dissapears" from the users desktop, Windows Explorer, or "My Computer". I
doesn't always dissapear but sometimes they just loose connection. It
happens to several while they are working on documents that are on the
server. I can't find anything in the event viewer that would indicate a
problem. It responds well to a ping also. I am also wondering if it could
be a DNS issue. By the way it usually only last for a couple of minutes.
Sometimes not even that long.
