Dissapearing bookmarks

My internet explorer bookmarks dissapeared. They were
replaced with a new defalt set. Does anyone know where
the IE bookmarks are kept or how I can get them back.
Does anyone know the path to the place the IE bookmarks
are stored so I can look for the old ones. Thank you.
 
The bookmarks in Windows ME is located in C:\Windows\Favorites

If you are using profiles, look under your user settings.
