something happened to my XP display - every file name below the file has a
line which acts like a link, so when i point the file with my mouse, it
automatically highlights and open the file/ program. Can someone tell me how
to revert it back to the normal setting so that the file won't open if I do
not double click on it?

Open a folder,go to Tools/folder Options/ check to see if single click
is selected

Good luck

if you are using windows xp--i know exactly what is wrong. go to the control
panel, and switch to classic view. double-click the icon labeled "folder
options." when the dialog box pops up then make sure at the bottom "double
click" is selected
