I run Win-XP home edition.

Is there a simple way to display a text file on startup? It was easy back
in the early days, but lately things are not so simple.

Thanks,

Ted

Not sure if this works in XP Home but it does in NT, 2K & XP Pro.

1. Open the Registry Editor. (Go to Start | Run, and type
regedt32.exe.)

2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon.

3. Double-click the LegalNoticeCaption value.

4. Enter a caption in the Data field.

5. Double-click the LegalNoticeText value.

6. Enter your text in the Data field.

7. Close the Registry Editor, and restart the computer.

It will display your text in a window at startup with an OK button.

grin. Working on your car used to be easy in the early days also. Now
instead of a wrench to find out the problem you need a $10,000 computer.
