Upon start up when desk top appears the screen goes black
and returns with bad resolution. I have to go into desk
top properties and reset color quality it drops from 32
to 8 bit. The screen resolution remains OK. I've down
loaded a NVIDIA file (56.72_winp2k_english_whql.exe. This
doesn't help. Is there a fix for this with out
reformatting?
Are you absolutely sure that you installed the correct NVIDIA driver file?
You should check Device Manager to see if there are any issues with your
display adapter. Right-click on My Computer and select Properties,
Hardware, Device Manger. Everything should neat, orderly, and have a plus
sign in front of it which indicates that all devices are working properly.
If there is an error symbol in front of Display Adapters, then you will have
a minus sign in front of Display Adapters and your actual display adapter
will be listed beneath it. Double click on your display adpater and read
what the problem is. If it's a driver problem, then you will have to
install the correct driver. An easy way to make obtain the latest NVIDA
driver is to simply run Windows Update. You will find a shortcut to Windows
Update on your Start Menu or you can go to
www.windowsupdate.com . Let it
scan your system and it should be listed under driver updates which are
available to install. While you are at Windows Update, be sure and install
all Windows Critical Updates that may be available.
If the above doesn't help, then repost your findings and we'll see if we
can't provide better information.
