I have dual monitor setup on Nvidia TNT2 64 AGP(boot)
attached to an old SONY multiscan 15sf and Nvidia GeForce2
MX400 PCI to a Mitshibishi Diamondview 1770f. A couple of
days ago, my SONY screen faded in colour, with lines
flowing from bottom to top, and the system partly hung.
ctrl-alt-del brought up task manager on the Mitshibishi mon
(very slowly), and the mouse was sluggish. Shutdown took
a long while (ending programs very slow). Upon reboot,
everything was back to normal for some time (as short as
30 minutes to over 10 hours), and the same thing happened
again. I am on sp4 and the only update that I have not
applied is the DirectX9.0 839643. Any thoughts?

How about the video card drivers....Are there any updated drivers that you
can install?

Drivers are OK. I have dual mon for over two years
without problem, and there has not been much change in the
system, except for acrobat reader 6.0, power dvd and nero
burning rom for my new dvd rw drive, all of which have
worked for over 2 months without incident. I suspect an
old vodeo card and will disable the AGP card and see. In
the mean time, any other thoughts, eg overheating cpu,
could it be a problem?

Thanks for the response.
