I have a < 2 year old Toshiba laptop with Intel 915GMS graphics which lately
has been having a serious problem with the screen going "semi-dark" upon
"waking."

It has been occurring for a couple of weeks now and the interim solution for
me was to not "sleep" it.

I am running Vista Ultimate and have all the latest drivers, updates et al.
With the aid of additional lighting, I can see well enough to type this
message...

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

TIA

Perhaps it is resetting the screen brightness. Some laptops also re-adjust
screen brightness for when the laptop is plugged in, not plugged in, to save
on battery power. The solutions is simply turning up the brightness. Look
for the function key and a symbol with a blue sun and arrow pointing up. For
example, on my laptop, I press FN and the up arrow key.

Robert,

Thanks.

Had already tried that to no avail. I'll keep checking otheroptions out.

It's interesting that it flashes normal brightness for a split second prior
to darkening...
