Display Memory Usage on Taskbar

Is there a way to have memory usage displayed on the Taskbar. I know I can
use the Task Manager/Performance to see it but I really would like to have
it displayed as a percentage on the Taskbar such as the CPU temp can be
displayed be any number of programs. A small window on the desktop itself
would do OK also.

Do you enjoy watching paint dry? Watching memory usage is
an equally pointless exercise. Usage of the pagefile is more
relevant.

You may check on pagefile (virtual memory) usage with Page File Monitor for
XP:

Make sure you study the readme.txt file carefully to ensure
you get the utility to work as it should.

You are absolutely correct. I don't enjoy watching paint dry nor grass
grow.

As it turns out, I should have said CPU Usage instead of Memory Usage. I
have downloaded the Page File Monitor you mentioned but would still like to
have the CPU Usage displayed.

Is there such a utility to do that?

Not one I would recommend. If there seems to be an unsatisfactory
response from the computer I would look in Task Manager.

If I wish to investigate CPU usage I would use Process Explorer.

Task Manager is useful but you could look at another freeware utility
Process Explorer, which provides similar information but adds that
little bit extra towards seeing what the running processes represent.

To ascertain which service is causing the problem select the
image name producing the high CPU usage, right click,
select Properties, Services. Note there are the full names and some
explanation of what each service does.

You will find further information on Services here:

To trace the particular Service involved you need to turn off each
service in turn and then restore it noting what effect it has on CPU
usage. However, you need to take care and watch what other Services are
dependent on that service. When you click on the Dependencies tab allow
it a little time to display the information.

However, this does not monitor. It facilitates investigation where you
want to find out about CPU usage, which you cannot explain.

I have been using a free program which will show many usage modules
Http://www.winbar.nl/ it can be set up at different places on your screen
and can start at start up.

Task Manager can be minimized to the system tray and will display the
CPU usage.
