display issue - rotated

My kids were on the net and somehow the display is now
vertical and I need it switched back to horizontal. They
were playing a game and hit some sequence of keys. When I
reboot the PC the XP start-up is horizontal but when the
wallpaper and icons show up the display is vertical. The
PC is functioning fine.

Have you tried using System Restore?
Also, scan for a viruses.

Check in Display Properties - usually in Settings or Settings> Advanced -
for a menu option that will rotate the screen orientation. This new feature
is added by many of the nVidia and ATI drivers.
