My display card was disabled and now i cant see my Windows XP Professional
running (but it actually still runs smoothly since i can shut down my
computer but using keyboard shortcuts). Previously, i had disabled my Radeon
ati 9000pro.
I disabled the display card by going into Control Panel -> Display ->
Settings -> Advanced -> Adapter -> Adapter Type -> Properties -> Device
Usage: "Do not use this device (disable).
I tried to log in in safe mode but there was only a flashing underscore on
the top left corner on the screen after loading.

How can i enable the display card in this case? Thanks

One should consider the consequence of an action before rushing ahead and
performing potentially disasterous events.

Now, if you are lucky and have an on-board display adapter as well as the
plug in type, simply enable the onboard item in BIOS and connect the display
to this onboard adapter interface, then reboot to XP and fix your mess.

If not, then borrow another AGP card from a mate and boot up with this:
Windows will detect the new AGP adapter, install the drivers and continue to
boot normally.

Then remove the old 'disabled' adapter and power off.

Replace the borrowed AGP card with your and boot up.

Again, Windows will detect the new AGP adapter, install the drivers and
continue to boot normally.

What if nirose removed the card and put it in another slot? Would windows
see it as a newly installed device? ...or would the system still disable it?

Use the last known good configuration option on the boot menu. If that
doesn't work, post back since you'll have to trigger a system restore the
hard way.
