Display Alert -New E-mail

I just reinstalled my system and set up MS Outlook 2003. I sent my self a few tests and notice that the Display Alert was not coming up when a new E-mail came in.

I checked the Display Alert Settings under Tools/Options/E-mail options/Advance Options and saw that the alerts were all set than checked the Display Alert settings options and tested the alert and it came up

does anyone have any idea what is wrong and whats the fix?

What type of mail account are you using? Exchange, POP3, IMAP, HTTP,
other...?

Make sure that there are no rules configured either during troubleshooting.

I'm having the same problem, with no rules applied and all notifications on. It works okay with a POP3, but not with Hotmail (http). It shows up when I click the inbox, but no notifications otherwise. My old outlook express used to display new msg alerts just fine. Any idea?
