Diskette drive activity at shutdown or logout

Each time I go out of Windows (logout or shutdown) there is a hectic
activity on my A: drive.
I thought it might be the antivirus (I'm running Norton 2004) doing its
stuff, but can't see any option in the program that would regulate this
aspect.
Can anyone help?

Leave a diskette in, It is norton.

Easy: open Norton, click "options" (you need to be admin to do this), click
"Auto Protect" then "Advanced" and uncheck the "Scan floppy disk in A: for
boot viruses when shutting down"
