diskcan on startup always

Don't put it off, it's telling you something.
Start by making sure all important data is backed up off the HDD then boot
from your XP CD, press r to enter the recovery console when asked and
execute this command:
chkdsk /r
This should fix the problem or tell you the HDD has bad sectors, if so,
replace it ASAP.
