I'm having a tough time with disk space since I replaced Windows 98 with
Windows XP Home Edition. When I go to Local Disk (C) I see Win98 with 105
MB. Can I send this to the recycle bin and create more space? Any other
ideas to create more space? I couldn't run disk fragmentation last night
because I only had 3% left and it required 15%. What else can I do?
If when you upgraded to Windows XP, you choose to save prior OS then the
Win98 folder is your prior OS files. Go to Control Panel Add/Remove
Programs. You should find and entry {likely near the end} to remove your
old OS files. Use That.
Right click on My Computer and select Properties and then the System Restore
tab. Select you drive and click on Settings. Reduce the amount of disk space
used by System Restore. Reducing disk space will also reduce the number of
restore points saved. After you defrag, you could increase the disk space if
your choose.
Examine the programs installed on your computer for which you have the
installation media. Uninstall those you rare use until you get a larger
drive or a second drive
