Disk space unavailable

I upgraded an old 300Mhz,192MB ram, Dell to XP Home (clean install) and
converted the disk to NTFS. When I try to load applications it says there's
not enough disk space even tho the properties pie chart shows 4GB out of the
6GB disk as being unused. Any ideas on how to fix this?

It could be that the message isn't referring to the drive, but the temporary
folder where installers decompress the package. Check the "default"
temp location C:\Windows\Temp for content. Best to reboot the PC &
then Delete everything in that folder. You'll also have a Temp folder in
your profile under Local Settings. A Chkdsk wouldn't hurt as it will verify
Free Space if invoked with the repair qualifiers R or F.

Depends on the installer. Old installers upon seeing >2 gigs of free
space toss their cookies because they misread it as a negative number.
For those type of apps you acctually have to reduce space temporarly to
less than 2 gigs.
