I'm getting an error when I try to boot the system. I've run the chkdsk /r
in the recovery console to fix any errors, and I've also run diagnostic tools
to check the hard drive (no errors). Of course, it still won't boot. One of
my alternatives (according to Western Digital) is to use their lifeguard
tools to write 000's to the disk and start over. I need to get some of my
data first. In the recovery console - I can do some simple navigating
through directories to see the data - but I don't know how I can copy or
backup the files to a diskette or removable media. Any ideas?????

Thanks!

You should try fixing the system before trying a data copy from the RC
prompt.

If you run an XP "Upgrade"setup, from the original, or "Gold" version of the
setup CD, and you have SP2 installed, it will go into a setup loop, and you
will lose your install. Uninstall SP2, BEFORE you do a Upgrade setup from CD
(that lacks sp2 on it.)
